Artist statement
My work explores the symbolic moment of leaving the nest; a universal coming-of-age experience marked by courage, growth, and transformation. Each piece is handmade in responsibly sourced 925 Sterling Silver using traditional metalsmithing techniques and features ethically produced shell pearls. The pearls represent the potential we carry within; delicate, luminous, and ready to take flight. I was drawn to the nest as a form because it speaks to both care and release. It holds us gently until we’re ready to go, reminding us that growing up often means stepping into the unknown with hope in our hearts and wings not yet tested. Created in my eco-friendly Brisbane studio, these wearable works reflect my love of nature, storytelling, and meaningful, sustainable making. They honour the quiet bravery it takes to grow, to let go, and to become something new.
