Creative Hands Press

Thoughtful books for creative hands and creative lives.

Creative Hands Press is an independent publishing imprint that creates thoughtful books and resources for makers, artists, and creative practitioners.

Founded by Australian jeweller, artist, educator and writer Toni-Maree Savage, the Press grew from a desire to explore the experience of creative practice beyond simply what we make.

Its publications explore the quieter parts of a creative life: the relationship between maker and work, the meaning we find through making, the challenges that accompany sustained creative practice, and the ways creativity shapes us over time.

Each publication is created with care and intention, with attention not only to its content, but to how it feels to read, use and return to.

A quieter approach to creative practice

Creative Hands Press believes that making is more than a technical skill or a finished object. It is a deeply human practice shaped by curiosity, patience, uncertainty, discovery, care and connection.

Rather than focusing on productivity or performance, the Press creates space for the less visible parts of creative practice: meaning, motivation, reflection and the lived experience of making with our hands.

Its books are intended to accompany creative people in their practice, offering practical knowledge, thoughtful reflection, or simply something useful to return to when needed.

Thoughtfully and independently published

Creative Hands Press is a small, independent imprint.

Publications are developed thoughtfully, with close attention to language, design, usefulness and the reader's experience. Some are reflective. Some are practical. Some sit somewhere between the two.

What connects them is a belief that creative people deserve books and resources that respect both the work they make and the person making it.

The Press will keep growing

Creative Hands Press is an evolving collection of books, workbooks and creative resources for makers, artists and others interested in living a thoughtful creative life.

New publications will be added as they are developed, alongside forthcoming titles and new editions of existing work.
